Rookpest

Cookie policy

Effective Date: March 14, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Rook Pest LLC (“Rook Pest,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website (www.rookpest.com) and the Rook Platform web application. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. When you first visit our website, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner. By clicking “Accept All” or continuing to use the site after that banner is displayed, you consent to our use of non-essential cookies in accordance with this Policy where such consent is required by applicable law.

01

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser when you visit a website. They enable the site to recognize your device across sessions, remember your preferences, and analyze how you use the site. Cookies set directly by Rook Pest are first-party cookies. Cookies set by third-party analytics, advertising, or support providers whose tools are embedded on our site are third-party cookies. Session cookies expire automatically when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device until their expiry date or until you delete them.

We also use related technologies: web beacons are transparent tracking images embedded in web pages or emails that record certain interactions; local storage is a browser-based mechanism that stores app preferences on your device without sending them to our servers with every request; and mobile SDKs in the Rook mobile app serve equivalent tracking functions to web cookies.

02

Categories of Cookies We Use

2.1

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the website and Platform to operate. They cannot be switched off in our systems. They are set in direct response to actions you take  logging in, navigating between pages, or submitting a form. No consent is required for these cookies.

  • Session authentication cookies: Maintain your logged-in state while using the Platform. Expire on logout or after 24 hours of inactivity;
  • CSRF protection tokens: Prevent cross-site request forgery attacks by validating form submissions. Expire at session end;
  • Load balancing and routing cookies: Ensure your requests are sent to the correct server. Expire at session end;
  • Security and rate-limiting cookies: Monitor for unusual activity, brute-force attempts, and bot traffic. Short-lived.
2.2

Performance and Analytics Cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website and Platform by collecting aggregated, anonymized information. They allow us to measure traffic, identify popular features, detect errors, and improve overall performance. Consent is required in jurisdictions where law mandates it (e.g., EEA and UK).

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4): Measures website traffic, session behavior, page engagement, and conversion events. IP anonymization is enabled. Expires after 13 months. Opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout;
  • Platform usage analytics: Tracks which Platform features are used, how often reports are generated, how quickly alerts are acknowledged, and other in-app behavioral data to improve the product. Expires after 12 months;
  • Error and crash monitoring (e.g., Sentry or equivalent): Captures application errors, exceptions, and crash reports with minimal identifying data (session ID only). Expires after 90 days;
  • A/B testing tools: Used to test different versions of Platform features or website layouts with anonymized user groups. Session-based or up to 30-day expiry.
2.3

Functional Cookies

Functional cookies remember choices you make to provide a more personalized experience. They can be disabled through the Cookie Preference Center, though doing so may reduce Platform functionality.

  • Language and region preference cookies: Remember your selected language and regional formatting settings. 12-month expiry;
  • Dashboard layout and view preference cookies: Store your customized column arrangements, map views, and filter settings within the Platform. 6-month expiry;
  • Cookie consent preference cookie: Records your cookie preference selections so we do not show the consent banner on every visit. 12-month expiry;
  • Customer support and chat widget cookies: Enable live chat or asynchronous messaging with the Rook support team. 9-month expiry.
2.4

Marketing and Targeting Cookies

These cookies are placed by our third-party advertising partners to track visits to the Rook Pest website and deliver relevant advertisements on other platforms. They build a profile of your browsing behavior across sites. These cookies are disabled by default and are only activated if you explicitly consent to them through the Cookie Preference Center.

  • Google Ads conversion tracking: Records when a user completes a sign-up or purchase after clicking a Google Ads advertisement. 90-day expiry;
  • Facebook/Meta Pixel: Tracks website visits and purchase conversions originating from Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns. 180-day expiry;
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag: Enables retargeting and conversion tracking for commercial and property management audiences reached through LinkedIn. 90-day expiry;
  • CRM tracking (e.g., HubSpot): Associates website visits with known contacts in Rook Pest’s CRM for sales follow-up purposes. 13-month expiry.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

  • Our website does not currently alter its tracking practices in response to browser-level “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals, as no universally accepted technical standard for DNT has been established. However, if you are a California resident and your browser or browser extension transmits a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, Rook Pest will treat that signal as a valid opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).

3.5

Mobile App Tracking Controls

The Rook mobile app uses mobile SDKs for analytics and crash reporting rather than browser-based cookies. To limit tracking on mobile devices:

If you prefer not to be tracked in emails, you can disable automatic image loading in your email client. You can also unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any such email, or by contacting info@rookpest.com.

Cookies and the Mobile App

The Rook mobile applications for iOS and Android do not use browser-based cookies. Instead, they use mobile analytics SDKs and local device storage for equivalent purposes, including session management, app crash reporting, usage analytics, and offline data caching. These tools are governed by the same principles as our web-based cookies and are subject to the same privacy protections described in this Policy and our Privacy Policy.

06

Third-Party Cookie Policies

Cookies placed by third-party providers referenced in Section 2 are governed by those providers’ own privacy and cookie policies. Rook Pest does not control third-party cookies and is not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party analytics, advertising, or support platforms listed in this Policy.

07

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this document and display an updated consent banner on the website.
